It Just Looks Funny...

There's a few folks out there having birthdays.

Great celebrations...

People recognizing their day.

Fun stuff.

Well...

My birthday is still a ways off.

But I was typing this evening. (I do tons of that you know.)

And when I was typing I wrote the number ~49~ down.

I mean I typed the number ~49~.

And I thought to myself...

That number just looks funny to me.

Kind of like...

That number just ain't right.

Now 48 1/2, or 48.5, looks a lot better.

And is a reasonable looking number in and of itself.

But I don't think 49 is at all..

That's ok .. I think 42 looks funny. I have exactly a week to get used to writing it.

My husband told everyone at the ceremony on Sunday that he'd be 52 next week ...uh ..no dear ... you'll be 51. Please don't do that to me. You're 9 years older than me, not 10. If you're 52 then I'm 43 ... I'm not, I'm 42, and that's enough. UGH.

You know, the whole year he was 41 he kept telling everyone he was 42 ...now he's starting it all over again with 51/52.

So next Tuesday I get to start reminding him he's 51 not 52 and I'm 42 no longer 41 ...

I suppose, it's better than the alternative ...

Is that the age you are going to be? I thought the same about 31, too. I don't know why. Honestly, there have been a few years in there that I actually forgot how old I really was. I tended to add or subtract a year. I don't know why. I guess after 35, it didn't matter to me anymore! :)

Hey Peggikaye...

*Happy Birthday*

Hey Pattie...

Yes, next year I will be 49 years old. It doesn't seem like it. My mind doesn't believe that number. And I have done the same thing too. I have forgotten how old I was many times. It happened mostly in my 30's.

Hey Squirrel...

At least at 40, the zero has a nice full and rounded appearance to it. Unlike the 9, which to me, seems to be a little *off balance*.

;+ )

Just catching up...

Up until this point in time, how old I am has never bothered me. It was just a number and it was how I felt that seemed to matter most. However....

with the big 50 looming large I seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time thinking about this and dreading the day.
