Statement as read by Purcell Police Chief David Tompkins
Evidence was found and seized from the apartment, to 1 bicycle found dismantled under the Defendant’s bed. The victim, Jamie Rose bolin was found in a plastic tub in the bedroom.
Other Items seized from the apartment included:
- A decorative dagger believed to be used in an attempt to cut off the victim’s head
- A hacksaw
- Duct tape
- Meat tenderizer
- BBQ skewers
- A duffle bag
- A mug, the victim is believed to have brought with her when she entered the apartment on Wednesday
- A video on serial killers
- A computer
- A wooden cutting board
The State Medical Examiners Office performed an autopsy today. The report is being finalized with an official cause of death. The victim is believed to have been hit on the head with the wooden cutting board 3 – 4 times. After which investigators believe the Defendant put his hand over her mouth to smother her as well as having a piece of duct tape put over her mouth. Victim is believed to have died on Wednesday, before law enforcement officers began their search.
Investigators do not believe there are any other victims. Investigators believe there were very likely other potential targets or victims, before Rose was chosen. These other targets were both male and female, both children and adults.
Regarding a potential motive, this appears to have been part of a plan to kidnap a person, rape them, torture them, kill them, cut off their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse then dispose of the organs and bones.
The victim was found with deep saw marks to her neck in an apparent attempt to decapitate the body. It is believed the body was sexually molested after the death.

Authorities have found a body in an apartment at the Purcell Park Apartments in the same apartment complex where 10 year old Jamie Rose Bolin lived.
It is believed to be the body of the missing little girl.
Evidence still needs to be collected and authorities are currently waiting on search warrants so they can search the suspect’s vehicle and apartment. The medical examiner is on their way to pick up the body. A positive identification will be made by the ME’s office.
Police Chief David Tompkins credits the FBI for breaking the case, who has now turned the investigation over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
In custody is Kevin Ray Underwood who reportedly does not have a record or any prior convictions. District Attorney Tim Kuykendall says that he has been a prosecutor for 24 years and states, “…this is nothing like I have seen before. …one of the most heinous, atrocious, and cruel cases… this little girl suffered.”
Mr. Kuykendall said that he will be filing first degree murder charges on Monday morning.
Authorities are also concerned that there is possibly a second suspect who is still at large.
Even if a second suspect was not party to Jamie Bolin’s death, authorities are concerned that there is an internet child predator still at large. The FBI has taken all of the local library’s computers as it is believed that Jamie used the library’s computers for online access.
Purcell is a small community of just over 5,700 residents. There are currently 12 registered sex offenders within the city limits of Purcell, Oklahoma.
