I'm Speechless...

My blogging has been spotty lately at best.

I haven't been able to keep up with my blogging friends' blogs either.

I've been very busy, lots of projects, lots of work, lots of personal stuff...

So imagine my surprise...

Shock rather...

When I discovered that I have been nominated for a 2007 Okie Blog Award.

The category that I have been nominated for is:

Best Unusual Blog

I want to personally thank the Okie Blogger(s?) who nominated me.

It's really an honor to be nominated...

A cherished prize in and of itself.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Voting for the 2007 Okie Blog Awards has already begun and will continue through September 26, 2007.

There are a few rules, one being that you have to be a current Oklahoma blogger to be able to vote.

Thanks to Mike for all of the hard work that he puts into sponsoring the awards as well as the annual Okie Blogger Round-Up.

Below is his list for this year's nominees.

Enjoy.

Today's Mailbag...

It's very, very late.

I worked on assignments all day today.

Save for taking time out to get a much needed haircut and...

To eat a late dinner at Bricktown with folks from work.

We were celebrating one person's recent marriage...

And another person who has worked with us for many years who is moving on to something new and exciting...

In California.

*sigh*

Yes. I had one very, very large Margerita as well.

It was ~strong~ too!

Yet tasty...

mmmm...

Anyway, I thought that I would stop and take a minute before I...

fall into bed.

You know, take the time to query you guys about something I received in the mail today.

I received a letter from the Dean today.

hmmm...

I thought (as I opened the envelope)...

Could they be wanting ~money~?

The letter states in part:

Congratulations! It is my pleasure to inform you that you will be receiving an award from the ______ College of Arts and Sciences.

You will be honored at the annual ______ College of Arts and Sciences Honors and Awards Convocation, ________ , at 7:00 p.m. in the __________. Following the awards, there will be a reception in ______ .

(yada yada yada)

Sincerely,
________, Ph.D.
Dean, ____ College of Arts and Sciences

The letter doesn't tell me what the award is.

It's like some kind of mystery or something.

Could they be withholding information to ensure my attendance?

Just hoping that I will show up to find out what I have been awarded?

Could the award be for the "Best Woman Parker"? I strive to park straight and between the lines.

Always.

Could the award be for the "Highest Library Fines of the Year"?

Yes... I still have library books from my last research project that I haven't returned.

Could I be recognized as "The Biggest Risk Taker on Research Projects of the Year"?

You know, you all helped me out quite a bit on that paper by participating in my polls here on my little blog.

I have been inducted into an honor society.

And I've been recognized nationally along with other students.

Both times I was taken quite by surprise.

So, needless to say, I haven't a CLUE what this could be all about.

If anyone knows, please tell me.

Maybe Jan does. Since she went to the same school and is a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda as well.

Okay... That's it for now.

It's almost 1am Sunday morning.

I've GOT to get to bed.

You guys have a blessed day.

Today's Mailbag...

I have just finished reading a chapter in my textbook.

It's late, and I need to get to bed...

But I am just about to burst with my news, and I can't go to bed without sharing it first.

Several weeks ago I had received a letter from the university asking for a resume`. It seems that I had been nominated for an ~award~, along with many other students, and a resume` was needed for the final selection process.

So I sent them a resume`.

Today...

I received a letter in the mail from Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

The letter states in part:

Oklahoma City University has nominated 151 students to be included in the 2007 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. It is my great pleasure to let you know that you are part of this elite group.

I'm really surprised by this...

And honored at the same time.

In fact, it's quite humbling.

To be on a nationally recognized list with all of those young college students.

Maybe when I listed my classification as a senior I should have put...

"pre-senior citizen" instead.

It could be that I just submitted the longest resume` they've ever seen.

What university professor on earth can turn down pages upon pages of typed text?

All of my professors love 20+ page papers...

With three pages full of typed references.

But it's too late now for anyone to change their minds because of my...

*ahem* age.

At least I think it is.

They can't take the award back...

Can they?

What I've Been Up to Today...

I went to work this morning.

Then I left work and went to a small little ceremony early this evening.

I received this paper and a small golden pin.

It was really nice.

Then I went back to work.
